The Museum of the Future Foundation obtained the Consultative Status at the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations -ECOSOC – click to access the site.
The meeting, attended by 54 members of the Economic and Social Council, took place on 27 April at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
With the unanimous vote in favor to the recommendation of the Evaluation Committee, the Council granted to Museum of the Future Foundation the Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC.
From then on, the Museum of the Future Foundation became the 23rd Brazilian organization to obtain the Special Consultative Status since the first participation of Brazil in 1999.
The Ecosoc, among the many attributions provided for in art. 62 of the Charter of the United Nations, acts as a Central Forum for international discussions on economic and social matters, connected with the 14 specialized agencies of the United Nations, its technical commissions and its five regional commissions.
It is the main forum for the discussion of economic and social issues and for the drafting of practical recommendations on these matters addressed to the Member States and the UN System.
Considered also, as a body that formulates policy recommendations, promoting international actions for sustainable economic and social development and stimulating universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.
